INITIAL INTEREST FORM AND CONSIDERATIONS

Picture

OPERATIONAL MEMBERS (1 to 7 Operational Capacities.)
Volunteering with ERT SAR is an amazing way to fill time constructively whilst helping others and developing additional skills. You will enhance your resume / CV, get to meet other great people, and be a part of a great organisation with high standards and take pride in your activities with us. A lot of members are from the Emergency Services or professional medics, but this is not a requirement.

We are especially interested in hearing from fit adults (18 to 70) who can wear a uniform smartly for our national and international team especially and those with military and emergency service backgrounds and / or if you  are able to help in one or more of the following areas:

Areas of Interest? *
1. International Work
2. National Events Team
3. Missing Person Search
4. Logistics & Transport
5. Medical Professionals
6. Technical Rescue
7. Marine Unit
8. Supporters & Fundraisers

NON OPERATIONAL AFFILIATE / SUPPORT MEMBERS
Simply email us if you want to fundraise for us through an activity you are planning to do. Examples would be running a marathon, cake bake sales and so on.

Or just email us or click the donate button if you want to give us money to support the work we do.

IF you would like to "Join" as a non-operational members and receive a certificate and support us as a non-operational member, that's great. The link will be on the local regional country page (and if you do not live in that country then simply sign up on the international link.)

Along with the pride of knowing you are associated with a great organisation doing great stuff you also know you are supporting our work.

There are No Fitness, No uniform and No attendance requirements and you would also receive:
  • An digital online certificate of membership
  • Access to useful documents and online training
  • Possible option to route into the Ops "Operational Membership" if that's your eventual plan.
There are some basic foundation truths. We want to encourage new members and applicants but what we do is not for everyone. You should have a sincere interest in helping others and have a tolerant disposition.

Please check any heavy biases or prejudices. Read our 10 Tenets. ERT SAR operators are fit and active. Operational Members are usually fitness tested annually.  (Unfortunately, if you are a heavy drinker or a smoker - then this is probably not for you.)

You can have tattoos but they must not be obscene or offensive or on your face. Members often deal with vulnerable people and must be of good moral character without criminal activities and unspent criminal convictions and will be expected to attend regular annual sessions with good uniform standards.

So first please read and
  • DO NOT complete this if you cannot attend annual sessions a year
  • DO NOT complete this if you are not based in Canada or UK and able to attend REGULAR local training *
  • DO NOT complete this if you are a member of another volunteer SAR team
  • DO NOT complete this if you are not a proportionately built fit adult. (Rescue Techs need BMI of 30 or less)
  • DO NOT complete this if you cannot wear a uniform to a high standard
  • DO NOT complete this if you have facial tattoos, very long hair (men) or extensive facial jewelry.
  • DO NOT complete this if you have a police record / criminal convictions against you

There are many ways to help others and if you are interested in helping and joining ERTSAR these are our standards.

After you complete the form below, please remember to email a clear and recent HEADSHOT photo to
membership@ert-sar.com

* This cannot be accepted without the photograph. It should be YOU ALONE, head and face without hat, helmet, sunglasses, etc.  It should not show you to have facial piercings, facial tattoos, very long hair etc. *

There is no membership fee at this stage and no attendance or uniform requirements until after you are actually accepted.
You must be in the United Kingdom or Canada to apply AND able to attend training, events and deployments on a regular basis.

You may email any questions to p.robinson@ert-sar.com (Canada) or r.coates@ert-sar.com (UK) or membership@ert-sar.com

The annual membership fee is $75 (Canadian) or £60 (UK) or $75 for International.
Thank you very much for your interest.

We'll hopefully see you soon!

* Local to GTA / Toronto or Henley on Thames Oxfordshire

Member Progression

ERTSAR has professional standards and expects members to follow certain SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures).

When you apply as an APPLICANT you will have 12 months as a RECRUIT to become a PROVISIONAL MEMBER but it rarely takes as long as that and most do it in a few months.

We ask that you expect to join for at least 2 years (although we have several members who have been with us almost 20!)

ALL Full Members become SAR ENGINEERS. Then depending on their training and qualifications they can also be in the RESCUE, MEDICAL and / or MARINE UNIT.
